In January, the federal government
unveiled a proposal to establish a
$33 billion package of tax credits that
would serve to encourage small
businesses to hire more workers and increase
wages. The proposal is
part of a larger effort to spark a rosier trend in
current unemployment
rates throughout the country.
Now's
the time to think about expanding your employee base.:

Workplace wellness programs are a
great way for businesses to safeguard
their investments in employees. These
programs often increase productivity
and reduce absenteeism. In fact, a 2005
survey by The American Journal
of Health Promotion found that companies that
instituted a workplace
wellness program saw a 30% reduction in medical and
absenteeism costs
in less than four years. Additionally, research conducted
by the Wellness
Councils of America reported that businesses with workplace
wellness
programs saw a $24 return for every $1 spent on the program.
