Do you own
a small business with a few employees? Or do you employ a household worker? If
you do, you probably need to submit W-2s to Social Security. The easiest and best
way to do this is through electronic filing.
Electronic
filing is ideal for anyone submitting tax forms, whether you are an employer,
accountant or payroll service provider. Electronic filing is free, fast and secure.
It saves time and also offers you more time to get the job done; the due date
for electronically-filed W-2s is extended to March 31, compared to February 28
for other filing methods.
There are two ways to submit W-2s
electronically. You can upload a wage report file formatted according to Social
Security's Specifications for Filing Forms W2 Electronically. This option is ideal
for any size filer. Or, you can complete up to 20 Forms W-2 right on your computer,
electronically submit them to Social Security and print copies suitable for distribution
to your employees.
Either way, electronic W-2 filing requires
registration, so don't wait until the last minute. To learn more - or to get started
