The Power Of The Voice

A lone voice in the crowd can be hard to hear but when that voice represents small business owners, entrepreneurs and the self employed, that voice rings loud and clear around the Washington D.C. Beltway. Valued National Business Association (NBA) Board of Directors member, Mrs. Terry Neese is able to provide a forum to present issues and actions facing small business and the self-employed. The NBA recognizes the energy, contributions and tireless efforts that Terry brings. Her actions as small business advocate make us proud to have Mrs. Terry Neese’s support in keeping the association current on public policy issues affecting the small business community and on her valued assistance in opening doors on "Capital Hill" to members of the NBA.

As co-founder and past president of Women Impacting Public Policy, Inc. (WIPP), Mrs. Terry Neese is the voice behind more than 550,000 business owners and coalition partners and is a well known activist to all that will listen in our nation's capitol, Washington D.C. "We want to make sure that whoever's in the White House knows what our message is and what our issues are," she says.

In a recent article in Inc. Magazine, “Who Loves You in D.C. (and Who Doesn't)”, Mrs. Terry Neese was one of four people highlighted as “Best Friends In D.C.: Power Brokers & Activists” known by the movers and shakers in Congress, Terry testifies on a regular basis before the U.S. House and Senate, and is part of a "Brain Trust" that provides important input to the U.S. Small Business Administration, and various coalitions. Terry led the efforts of the Small Business Advisory Team for the Bush/Cheney Campaign 2004, served on the Executive Committee for “W Stands for Women” Coalition and has been a significant factor in getting key small business legislation passed.

In February 2003, President George W. Bush appointed Terry to a three-year term as a member of the National Women's Business Council. The National Women's Business Council is a bi-partisan Federal government council created to serve as an independent source of advice and counsel to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic issues of importance to women business owners. Most recently Terry has been appointed to the Advisory Council for the United States Committee for United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). Known as the women's fund at the United Nations, UNIFEM helps women in over 100 developing nations around the world achieve equality by providing financial and technical assistance to projects that foster the development of women's economic security, promote women's human rights, and increase women's participation in decision-making processes that shape their lives.

Terry Neese is a valued small business advocate and our “right to be heard” in the crowd. Through the power of her voice, she is small businesses' “Best Friend” in D.C. and will continue to shape the future.
